I started my counselling career by working as a bereavement counsellor for Camden, City, Islington, Westminster Bereavement Service. Loss comes in many different forms (i.e. loss of loved ones, deteriorating health, disability, job, home, relationship, etc.) Sometimes, when so much of your time is taken up by being a mother, father, husband, wife, caring for others, work, etc you can feel as though you don’t know who you are any more. Such loss of identity can result in increased levels of generalised anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, a loss of self-confidence, social anxiety, isolation, chronic loneliness, all of which threaten our ability to connect with other people.
Counselling made a difference to my own life and gave me the strength to get through a very difficult time and the motivation to keep going to bring about positive change. It was the best investment I ever made in myself. Could counselling make a difference to your life?
I also have a special interest in working with couples and helping them to change the negative cycle between them. I understand the distress felt by partners by being stuck in a repeating pattern of negative behaviours, thoughts and feelings.
